JaCER Holds 17th Learning Lab: Report on the 8th UN Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia-Pacific

On October 13, 2026, JaCER held its 17th Learning Lab online.

The session focused on the 8th UN Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia-Pacific, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 14 to 17, 2026. The Learning Lab provided an opportunity to share key discussions and recent developments from the Forum, as well as to hear reflections from JaCER member companies that participated in the event.

The Forum brought together more than 1,400 in-person participants and featured approximately 90 sessions. Under the theme "Building Resilience, Advancing Rights," participants engaged in wide-ranging discussions on the implementation of human rights due diligence, corporate accountability, and collaboration among stakeholders.

During the Learning Lab, two JaCER staff members who attended the Forum provided an overview of key developments and discussions, including non-judicial grievance mechanisms and access to remedy, access to remedy in the financial sector, worker- and community-led grievance mechanisms, and the use of AI in grievance mechanisms and remedy processes. They also shared insights from sessions in which JaCER was involved, as well as exchanges with international organizations, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders during the Forum.

This was followed by reflections from representatives of five JaCER member companies who shared their reasons for attending the Forum, discussions and sessions they found particularly noteworthy, and key takeaways for their future business practices, each from their respective perspectives.

JaCER will continue to use its Learning Lab series as a platform for sharing the latest domestic and international developments in business and human rights, as well as knowledge and practical experience related to dialogue-based remedy, with its member companies.
